The main duty of this role is to ensure ongoing safety, security, vigilance, and awareness to manage the facility and its residents in line with company policies and agency regulations. This position is primarily responsible for ensuring resident accountability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES (OTHER DUTIES MAY BE ASSIGNED BY SUPERVISOR)

  • Facilitate the intake of residents following established protocols and contractual obligations. Conduct a personal property inventory for residents upon their arrival.
  • Meticulously document all activities and report the number of residents entering or exiting the facility in compliance with company and contractual standards.
  • Maintain accountability for residents outside the facility while accurately reporting movements in accordance with established requirements.
  • Conduct facility headcounts at designated intervals and ensure logbooks reflect accurate counts of all residents assigned to the facility.
  • Receive and relay critical information from the previous shift regarding events that occurred during that time.
  • Oversee the sign-in/sign-out procedures and manage all movements of residents and visitors.
  • Monitor surveillance systems to observe facility activities and report any unauthorized movements.
  • Perform equipment checks to ensure operational readiness for each shift, including radios, flashlights, and keys before transitioning with the outgoing shift.
  • Ensure all shift reports, work orders, security logs, and unusual incident reports are clear, concise, and meet facility and agency standards.
  • Regularly patrol the facility to observe and listen to residents, maintaining awareness of the facility's condition.
  • Supervise resident work assignments to uphold facility cleanliness, ensuring compliance with company and agency standards.
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled cleanliness inspections of the facility and resident quarters, ensuring personal belongings are maintained in a tidy manner to meet health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee the distribution of medications and first aid supplies to residents.
  • Act as a communication link between residents and case managers to facilitate effective dialogue.
  • Accurately report any issues or violations of agency regulations and company policies.
  • Assist case managers in conducting searches of residents' vehicles.
  • Monitor the telephone system from control booths and maintain a photo ID log for all residents.
  • Inspect items brought into the facility by residents and visitors to prevent the introduction of contraband.
  • Conduct random and scheduled searches, as well as alcohol and drug tests on residents as per established agency and company policies.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all staff levels to foster teamwork.
  • Engage with residents professionally to promote their self-esteem and maintain positive relations.
  • Ensure confidentiality regarding employees, vendors, residents, or external agencies, sharing sensitive information only on a need-to-know basis.
  • Assist with meal service in the absence of food service staff.
  • Transport residents using company vehicles when necessary.
  • Maintain an inventory of personal property for residents who leave unexpectedly.
  • Hold valid First Aid and CPR certifications.
  • Participate in all mandatory training and professional development sessions.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

A minimum of one year of experience in a security or customer service role, preferably within a correctional setting.

Proven skills in both written and verbal communication; First Aid and CPR certifications (training available); a valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.

ABILITIES:

  • Understand and implement contractual obligations related to community corrections and accountability.
  • Work a rotating schedule, including overtime as needed.
  • Establish authority and communicate effectively for mutual understanding.
  • Engage effectively, both orally and in writing, with all staff levels.
  • Build and maintain productive working relationships with colleagues; identify and report issues promptly and accurately.
  • Administer First Aid and CPR as required.
  • Drive company vehicles when necessary.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures set forth by the company and contracting agency.
  • Meet clearance requirements established by the contracting agency.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A high school diploma or equivalent is required (an Associate's Degree is preferred).
