About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer to join our Manufacturing team. As a Sales Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting our growing brand by providing technical expertise to customers and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and interpret customer specifications and sales agreements to ensure accurate product development and delivery.
- Program and maintain design layouts in SolidWorks 3D modeling software to create innovative products that meet customer needs.
- Travel to customer locations to review their operations and identify opportunities for product improvement.
- Develop working relationships with fabrication, welding, and assembly departments to optimize production processes and improve product quality.
- Read and interpret AutoCAD 2D drawings to inform design decisions.
- Utilize computer-aided design techniques to perform applicable design work and create Computer-Aided Machining Programs (CAM).
- Make calculations to determine acceptable standards of performance, material selection, and construction methods.
- Create drawings that are viable for the production team to follow.
- Investigate design and manufacturing issues to ensure compliance with established processes and standards.
- Sourcing custom purchased parts for projects to meet customer requirements.
- Analyze project costs and develop designs that can be produced economically to maintain or improve the company's competitive position.
- Act as a technical resource for product field support, assisting in addressing and resolving customer questions and problems.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to address manufacturing, design, and quality issues, and ensure continuous process improvement.
- Stay informed of new parts and methods to improve products or product designs, and stay current in industry developments.
- Assist in creating Engineering Change Orders to ensure accurate product documentation.
- Responsible for project completion on time, within budget, and fully meeting customer requirements.
- Familiar with safety certification organizations such as UL, ETL, and NSF.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must be able to interact with customers and key decision-makers to understand industry requirements in the Food Service, HealthCare, and Material Handling industries. Visual observation and verbal interaction with all internal and external end users is required. You must be able to articulate ideas and concerns to various disciplines.
Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of 3-5 years of stainless and sheet metal fabrication experience. Some background in other material fabrication is desirable. Proficient in SolidWorks 3D and familiar with AutoCad software. Proficient in Microsoft Office products to perform daily tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None, but may assign work to Designers, Detailers, or Interns.
