Position Overview
The College of Population is in search of a dedicated Program Coordinator to assist with the administrative and community outreach functions of the Transdisciplinary Research, Equity and Engagement Center at the University of New Mexico. This role is pivotal in supporting the operational and research administrative framework for the WEAVE NM project (Wide Engagement for Assessing Vaccine Equity New Mexico). The selected candidate will collaborate with administrative staff, research team members, and community partners to ensure compliance with project milestones while providing essential support to the Senior Program Manager and the scientific research lead.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate PCard transactions and monitor compliance for project-related incentives, travel, and supplies.
- Assist in organizing logistics for community events and meetings.
- Support daily operations, including budget tracking and project expenditure oversight.
- Design and implement a contract/grant-funded program initiative aligned with the University’s operational goals.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to represent the program effectively.
- Provide technical guidance and support to community research partners.
Program Insights
The Transdisciplinary Research Equity and Engagement Center is one of twelve centers funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). These centers are crucial in advancing research focused on minority health and health disparities, fostering a diverse research workforce, and promoting innovative collaborations. The TREE Center aims to enhance health equity among diverse communities, nurture community-academic partnerships, and prepare future researchers for transdisciplinary intervention studies.
Project Goals
- Engage community partners in developing and implementing clinical-community interventions to address cardiovascular disease risks among diverse populations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of community health worker interventions in improving hypertension treatment.
- Create culturally relevant environmental interventions to mitigate food insecurity risks.
- Disseminate findings to replicate successful practices in other health centers.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED and at least six years of relevant experience. Candidates with higher education may substitute their degrees for experience on a year-for-year basis.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
