Position Overview
The College of Population Health is in search of a dedicated Program Coordinator to assist with the administrative and community outreach functions of the Transdisciplinary Research, Equity and Engagement Center at the University of New Mexico. This role is pivotal in supporting the operational and research administrative framework for the WEAVE NM initiative (Wide Engagement for Assessing Vaccine Equity New Mexico). The Program Coordinator will collaborate with administrative and research team members, as well as community partners, to ensure compliance with project milestones and assist the Senior Program Manager and scientific research lead with various financial and logistical tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the planning and execution of contract/grant-funded program initiatives for the University.
- Contribute to the development of program resources and assist in setting operational goals and protocols.
- Manage programmatic funds effectively, ensuring adherence to contract/grant parameters.
- Act as a representative for the program to both internal and external stakeholders regarding operational matters.
- Provide technical guidance and support to community research partners and clientele as needed.
- Oversee the organization of community events and meetings, ensuring logistical needs are met.
- Assist in tracking project expenditures and budget compliance.
About the Program
The Transdisciplinary Research Equity and Engagement Center is one of twelve centers of excellence funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD). These centers are instrumental in advancing research in minority health and health disparities, training a diverse research workforce, and fostering innovative partnerships. The TREE Center is committed to enhancing health equity among diverse communities and preparing future researchers for transdisciplinary intervention research.
Specific Aims of the WEAVE New Mexico Project
- Engage community partners in the development and implementation of interventions aimed at reducing cardiovascular disease risks among diverse populations.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of community health worker interventions in improving treatment outcomes for hypertension.
- Develop culturally relevant environmental interventions to address food insecurity as a contributor to hypertension.
- Disseminate findings to replicate successful practices in managing cardiovascular disease across various health centers.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED and at least six years of relevant experience. Candidates with higher education may substitute years of experience. Preferred qualifications include strong organizational skills, proficiency in fiscal management, and experience in community engagement.
