Position Overview:

The Guest Services Representative plays a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience at the Kraken Community Iceplex, managing front desk operations and facilitating various programs.

This position involves collaboration with program leaders across youth hockey, adult hockey, figure skating, and in-venue events to ensure smooth operations and effective communication with guests.


Key Responsibilities:
Serve as a vital part of the Kraken Community Iceplex, recognized as a premier training venue in the NHL.
  • Be the ambassador of positive experiences for all guests, welcoming skaters of all ages and skill levels, ensuring they feel secure and at ease.
  • Manage skater check-ins and registrations, acquire skills in skate sharpening, and assist in fitting rental skates.
  • Engage in physical activities such as distributing skates and skate aids, returning equipment, maintaining cleanliness, and lacing skates.
  • Support special events like birthday parties, delivering enjoyable and safe experiences.
  • Handle concession sales while mastering the art of popcorn preparation.
  • Respond to guest inquiries via email and phone, assist with program registrations, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of facility offerings.
  • Ensure the facility remains clean and safe through regular maintenance and tidying efforts.
  • Report any unsafe or hazardous conditions related to the ice or facility.
  • Participate in mandatory training sessions and staff meetings.
  • Professionally uphold facility policies and procedures.
  • If qualified, perform duties as a Skate Monitor as needed.
Weekend availability (Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays) is essential.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in customer service.
  • Proficiency in managing sales transactions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with customers.
  • High personal integrity and a commitment to prioritizing the organization's interests.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Genuine passion for hospitality and customer service.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a recreation facility or customer service front desk role.
  • Familiarity with youth sports.
  • Understanding of event and on-ice programming.
  • Previous work experience in an ice facility or similar sports complex.
  • Experience with sports scheduling software (preferably DAYSMART).

Working Conditions:
Flexible scheduling is required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
This role is performed throughout a recreational facility, including on and around the ice. Responsibilities involve sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and potentially ice skating if applicable.

Physical demands include frequent bending and lifting of 15-20 pounds, extensive walking throughout the facility, and exposure to various external elements.


Compensation and Benefits:
In accordance with Washington's Equal Pay and Opportunity Act, the starting pay rate for this position is $20.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience and other job-related factors.
