About the Role

Merrick, a leading provider of engineering and construction services, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing Business Unit. This full-time, direct hire position will be responsible for overseeing engineering, design, coordination, client communications, and associated construction administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical engineering team in the design and development of complex systems and equipment for industrial facilities and manufacturing plants.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project goals are met, and deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with vendors, customers, and other Merrick personnel as required by projects.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations, including ASME, API, PIP, and NFPA.
  • Design and develop mechanical systems, including piping, HVAC, and plumbing, for industrial facilities and manufacturing plants.
  • Perform pipe stress analysis and sizing of equipment and systems.
  • Develop scopes of work based on RFPs and pre-bid meetings with clients.
  • Work with owners and construction management teams to validate construction costs and provide value-engineering options.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers and designers.
  • Perform field inspections and review of reports.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • Twelve (12)+ years of industry experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer or ability to obtain PE within the first year of employment.
  • Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects.
  • Experience leading teams of engineers on design projects.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and insurable under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pipe stress analysis experience utilizing software such as CAESAR II.
  • Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing and industrial facilities.
  • HVAC and plumbing design for industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
  • Experience in managing personnel and project engineering.
