Position Overview

PTS Advance is looking for a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer II with a strong background in industrial utilities and HVAC engineering. This full-time, direct hire role will involve responsibilities such as engineering, design, coordination, client interaction, and related construction management. The position is available in a flexible location.

Compensation: $150K - $175K (negotiable based on qualifications)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Utilize expertise in utility and HVAC systems across various industrial sectors, including food & beverage, personal care, advanced technology, specialty chemicals, automotive, shipbuilding, heavy manufacturing, and energy.
  • Design mechanical systems encompassing building HVAC, industrial ventilation, dust collection, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, pumps, blowers, natural gas, steam & condensate, compressed air, process water, hygienic piping, and dry material handling systems.
  • Oversee all aspects of mechanical design, including system design, duct and pipe sizing, equipment selection, and specification development.
  • Assist in the creation of construction documents, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment datasheets.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards such as IBC, IMC, IPC, ASME, ASHRAE, API, and NFPA.
  • Conduct heating and cooling load calculations using software tools like Trace.
  • Perform head loss calculations with AFT Fathom/Arrow software.
  • Design industrial ventilation systems in accordance with OSHA/ANSI standards and ACGIH best practices.
  • Provide technical support during construction phases, addressing field issues, reviewing vendor submissions, conducting site inspections, and managing RFIs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution is required.
  • 18+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience in leading engineering teams on design projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (or ability to obtain PE within the first year of employment).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for client projects.
  • Recent experience in HVAC design for industrial manufacturing facilities is essential.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Extensive knowledge of industrial utility and HVAC systems.
  • Familiarity with Building Codes, including Mechanical and Plumbing Codes.
  • Understanding of ASHRAE, ACGIH, and SMACNA Standards.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to project sites and corporate offices, including occasional overnight travel.
  • Ability to conduct inspections and observations at industrial and construction sites, which may involve physical demands such as working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Must meet attendance and punctuality expectations.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs as needed.
