About the Role

Merrick, a leading provider of engineering and construction services, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Energy, Manufacturing & Bioprocessing Business Unit. This full-time, direct hire position will be responsible for overseeing engineering, design, coordination, client communications, and associated construction administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the mechanical engineering team in the design and development of complex projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, and budgets, ensuring effective resource allocation and risk management.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with project requirements and identify potential issues.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve project delivery and company performance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • At least 12 years of industry experience, with a proven track record of leading complex projects and teams.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain PE within the first year of employment.
  • Experience with Design/Build and EPC projects, with a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pipe stress analysis experience using software such as CAESAR II.
  • Significant experience designing and installing retrofits and upgrades at manufacturing and industrial facilities.
  • HVAC and plumbing design experience for industrial facilities.
  • Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1, ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel codes, PIP and API codes.
