About the Role

Fisk University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Annual and Planned Giving Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Institutional Advancement division, you will play a critical role in advancing our mission and vision through strategic development and philanthropic partnerships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement comprehensive annual giving programs, including coordination and oversight of supporting initiatives in development services and donor relations.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and national businesses, community organizations, alumni, and high net worth individuals to advance our strategic priorities.
  • Provide strategic direction and long-range/short-range planning for annual giving and major gift programs, ensuring the University is a leader among peers in terms of total dollars, percentage participation, consistency of giving, and average gift size.
  • Support the design and implementation of comprehensive fundraising plans to achieve fiscal objectives, including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting support from key constituencies.
  • Provide strategic leadership for the continued advancement of Fisk's relationships with external constituencies and the Nashville community.
  • Manage, motivate, and coordinate staff and volunteers to establish and achieve short-term and long-range goals in institutional advancement.
  • Work closely with the Executive Vice President to articulate and promote priorities, image, mission, and integrity of Fisk University, and solicit support from key constituencies.
Requirements
  • Ph.D or Master's degree preferred, plus five (5) years of senior-level experience in business development, sales, and/or advancement.
  • Five years of sales, fundraising, and senior volunteer group management experience, with a strong track record in relationship building and business development.
  • Proven management and organizational skills, including budget management and strategic planning.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, and prior experience working effectively with private/public sector organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CFRE certification desirable.
