Position Overview:
This role is part of a union position.

Client Safety Navigator Responsibilities:
The Client Safety Navigator plays a crucial role in ensuring a secure environment for clients, staff, and visitors. This position employs verbal de-escalation techniques to manage crisis situations and client behavioral challenges, remaining available on-site 24/7.

The Navigator is tasked with maintaining a safe and secure building environment. Responsibilities include monitoring entrances and exits, checking clients in after appointments, managing visitor check-ins, conducting house runs and room inspections, and ensuring the overall safety of the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe and orderly environment for all clients, staff, and visitors.
  • Manage traffic flow and de-escalate high-pressure situations, fostering a respectful and welcoming atmosphere.
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor various areas, including entrances, exits, offices, and common spaces.
  • Maintain a welcoming environment by organizing spaces and collaborating with service providers and administrative staff.
  • Carry Narcan at all times while on duty and administer it to reverse drug overdoses when necessary, in collaboration with local law enforcement.
  • Maintain logs for client and visitor sign-ins and file incident reports as required.
  • Engage effectively with diverse populations facing various barriers to success.
  • Build strong relationships with colleagues and community organizations.
  • Understand social determinants of health and the significance of holistic care.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and internet tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Familiarity with supportive counseling strategies and wellness principles is preferred.
  • Trained in crisis de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience working with local law enforcement and onsite leadership.
  • Knowledge of community behavioral health and public health systems.
  • 2-4 years of lived experience within the community behavioral health or criminal justice systems is preferred.
