Job Overview

Position Title: Logistics Coordinator

Classification: Non-Exempt / Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Reports to: Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

This role is dedicated to providing transportation solutions at the Abraham and Lillian Turk Recuperative Care Center, which offers short-term post-hospitalization housing and medical respite care in a supportive environment for individuals facing homelessness, as well as complex medical, psychiatric, and substance use recovery needs. The Logistics Coordinator, under the guidance of the program manager and site supervisor, is accountable for ensuring the safe and timely transport of clients to and from various appointments while also supporting program operations as necessary to fulfill the mission of Interfaith Community Services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

To excel in this position, the individual must effectively carry out each essential duty. The following responsibilities are considered critical but do not encompass all tasks that may be required. Additional comparable duties may be assigned as needed.

  • Assist clients in boarding and disembarking from the vehicle, particularly those with mobility challenges.
  • Secure mobility aids and provide assistance to disabled clients entering and exiting the vehicle.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Ensure clients are safely inside medical facilities before departing.
  • Maintain and update the transportation schedule; plan routes and travel times to ensure clients arrive punctually for appointments and are picked up in a timely manner afterward.
  • Communicate with clients and staff regarding any changes to appointments or schedules.
  • Maintain order and discipline within the vehicle; keep accurate maintenance records.
  • Report any client behavior issues or service disruptions to the supervisor.
  • Secure the vehicle when unattended; confirm that no clients remain in the vehicle before leaving.
  • Keep a daily log of mileage and the number of clients transported.
  • Refuel and service the vehicle as needed; report any vehicle issues immediately for maintenance.
  • Ensure common areas and hallways are free of obstructions.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within facilities.
  • Participate in all staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of experience in transportation services is required.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations, including those with severe mental health issues, medical fragility, and homelessness, is preferred.
