We are seeking an Environmental Scientist III to join our team at the Kentucky Operator Certification Program (OCP) within the Certification and Licensing Branch (CLB). This position will play a critical role in ensuring the knowledge and capabilities of individuals dealing with community solid waste, drinking water, and wastewater.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct technical reviews of drinking water operator certification applications
- Develop and present technical certification and continuing education training events (online and in-person)
- Proctor exam events
- Provide technical assistance to water facilities
- Interpret and apply regulations and policies
- Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in a natural, biological or physical science
- Three years of experience in natural resources, environmental control, or a related area
This position will work in an office setting with frequent travel on a statewide basis. Incumbents may be subject to adverse weather conditions, exposure to snakes and insects, water-borne pathogens, broken glass, rusty metal in streams, and hazards common to operation of electro-fishing equipment.
This is a full-time position with eligibility for overtime pay. The agency may authorize the selected candidate to telecommute, but the agency may terminate or modify the telecommuting arrangement at any time.
