Job Summary:

LifeSkills is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to join our team. As an Environmental Health Specialist, you will be responsible for performing environmental health inspections and investigations in Simpson County to ensure compliance with regulations. This includes food service, hotel/motel, mobile home/recreation vehicle park, public building plan review, tattoo studio, school, septic tank cleaning vehicle, septic tank cleaning disposal site, ear/body piercing studio, youth camp, tanning bed, lead, swimming pool, beach, private water sample, rabies control and onsite sewage disposal system program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental health inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Investigate all nuisance complaints, including mosquito control, bird, insect, and rodent.
  • Issue notice/release in the methamphetamine lab program.
  • Teach Food Manager classes.
  • Respond to environmental emergencies, such as food vehicle accidents, food service establishment fires, floods, or other natural disasters.
  • Provide information on mold as needed.
  • Interpret reports generated by the Environmental Health Management Information System (EHMIS).

Requirements:

A bachelor's degree from a college or university with a minor or twenty-four (24) semester hours in environmental health, biological or physical science, or registration as a Kentucky Environmental Specialist/Sanitarian under KRS 223.
