Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000
The Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive treatment services for individuals grappling with addiction in an outpatient environment. This position involves guiding clients through their recovery journey from various forms of addiction, including but not limited to substances, gambling, and behavioral issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments and develop tailored treatment plans alongside referral and educational support.
- Perform psychosocial evaluations and implement therapeutic interventions, including crisis counseling for individuals, families, and groups.
- Assess client functioning within their personal and professional lives, identifying areas that require ongoing support and resources.
- Maintain detailed case records to document treatment progress and fulfill necessary reporting requirements.
- Facilitate follow-up and aftercare planning, ensuring a smooth transition for clients post-treatment.
- Provide emergency support during designated hours as required.
- Participate in team meetings and supervisory sessions to enhance clinical operations.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Director.
Qualifications:
1. A graduate or postgraduate degree in sociology, social work, psychology, or a related discipline.
2. Certification in alcohol and drug counseling is essential.
3. A master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field is required for positions in counseling centers and hospitals.
4. A valid license to practice as a substance abuse counselor is mandatory.
Note: Candidates must be certified under the District of Columbia as a CAC-Level I or Level II.
