Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Setting Addictions Counselor to join our Behavioral Health Services department at SOME, Inc. in Washington, D.C.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual assessments and develop treatment plans for clients in the addictions treatment program.
  • Provide individual and group counseling services to clients in different phases of treatment.
  • Assess client readiness for the current level of care and transfer to residential treatment as needed.
  • Participate in treatment planning, supervision meetings, and interdisciplinary meetings to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Complete discharge planning and make referrals to alternative programs as needed.
  • Write client progress notes and maintain documentation in required electronic health record systems.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling, or Certified Addictions Counselor DC license.
  • 1-2 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services, with a focus on working with the homeless population.
  • Knowledge of mental health and substance abuse issues, including co-occurring diagnoses in a residential setting.
  • Ability to use creativity, strengths-based approach, and evidence-based practices with clients.
  • Flexibility with the ability to multi-task despite competing priorities.
  • Experience with DataWits, ECW, and proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience providing addiction treatment or mental health services, with a focus on working with the homeless population.
Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to lift up to 20 pounds and to sit for long periods. The candidate must also be able to look at a computer screen for several hours a day.
