Patient Access Representative

The Patient Access Representative serves as the first point of contact between external clients and PPLM, providing excellent customer service and responding to patient needs with good judgment and a caring attitude.
Key Responsibilities- Welcome patients, guests, and escorts into the health center, maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.
- Follow HIPAA guidelines and maintain confidentiality of patient health information.
- Check in and check out patients, verifying insurance and other revenue cycle functions as needed.
- Maintain the waiting area, ensuring it is clean and organized, and be accessible for patient and visitor questions.
- Process refill requests and handle sales of contraceptive supplies.
- Cash handling and batch reconciliation each day.
- Document patient information in the electronic health record.
- Respond to intraoffice telephone calls, portal messages, and in-person questions.
- Assist in onboarding training of new staff and troubleshoot complex patient interactions.
- Create a healthy work environment and respond positively to directives from management and clinical staff.
- Participate in PPLM's efforts to achieve productivity goals.
- Obeys all PPLM policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Process medical record requests and monitor upcoming appointments.
- Contact patients prior to their appointments as needed.
- High School Diploma/GED required, 1-3 years of experience preferred.
- Computer experience, especially Microsoft Office Suite, required.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting with electronic health records and basic understanding of health insurance preferred.
- Ability to communicate information efficiently and effectively, maintain a pleasant attitude under pressure, and handle detailed work with precision and accuracy.
