Position Overview

The University of North Carolina Asheville is seeking a highly skilled Human Resources Generalist to join our dynamic HR team. As a key player in our HR operational excellence team, you will provide cross-functional support to foster high-quality HR outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and assist in HR projects and processes, such as policy development, workers' compensation, employee engagement, and classifications.
  • Provide daily, professional Human Resource services to our university staff, faculty, and students.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives that align with the institution's vision, mission, values, and strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with various UNCA departments to support essential HR functions and partner with stakeholders to achieve HR objectives.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding activities and processes, ensuring a seamless transition for new employees and departing staff members.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws and regulations, maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four-year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or a related field, coupled with relevant experience.
  • Proficient in HR administration, human resources software, and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Apps.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to organize and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines effectively.
  • Able to work well independently and collaboratively within a team, maintaining confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HR certifications are advantageous.
  • Experience in handling sensitive or confidential information discreetly.
