About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Freelance Art Handler to join our team at Iron Mountain Inc. As a Freelance Art Handler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and secure transportation of art and cultural artifacts to and from museums, galleries, and private venues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Handle, move, wrap, pack, and crate art objects, decorative arts, and/or furniture using industry-standard techniques and materials.
  • Install and uninstall art for onsite projects, ensuring the utmost care and attention to detail.
  • Load and unload trucks to ensure safe transit, and plan and organize trucks to ensure the safety of objects during transit.
  • Conduct inspection reports to ensure the integrity of the art and cultural artifacts in our care.
  • Lead, guide, and coach team members to ensure success and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Act as an onsite liaison between clients and company management, providing clear communication and resolving any issues that may arise.
  • Determine strategy for projects, particularly when senior staff are not on site, and make decisions that align with company policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • 1 year of prior experience in art handling with a gallery, museum, or commercial fine arts company.
  • Ability to repeat physical tasks 95% of the time, including standing, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Lift, move, push, and pull equipment, containers, and boxes of various sizes and weights.
  • Understand industry-standard techniques and materials for packing, crating, and installing art and cultural artifacts.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and coworkers, and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Attentive to detail, discretion, and follow-through, with a strong commitment to quality and excellence.
  • Self-motivated team player with a willingness to work flexible hours based on project needs.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to regional locations for onsite work.
