Job Title: Chief Safety and Risk Officer

Department: Risk Management

Reports to: Senior Vice President of Risk Management

The Chief Safety and Risk Officer will lead and refine the safety and risk management protocols throughout our vibrant and multifaceted resort. This position is accountable for the holistic risk management framework, encompassing the ski area, two aquatic parks, and an adventure park, ensuring the protection of our patrons and staff while adhering to regulatory standards and fostering a safety-oriented culture.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and promote risk mitigation across the organization.
  • Design and deliver on-site training sessions tailored to various teams.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and execute risk management strategies, objectives, and plans.
  • Implement strategies aimed at reducing risks.
  • Oversee incident reporting to insurance providers.
  • Conduct all OSHA-required training and address any OSHA-related inquiries.
  • Develop and update procedures, policies, and protocols to incorporate new or modified regulatory requirements.
  • Build and maintain effective collaborations with department leaders.
  • Handle sensitive information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality.
  • Actively engage in the Safety Committee and facilitate quarterly safety meetings across the parks.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in drafting and refining policies, providing technical insights related to safety.
  • Submit budget recommendations for expenses and capital projects in a timely manner.
  • Possess the capability to provide depositions and testify when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance among employees with company policies and risk management processes.
  • Research and provide technical insights on current issues related to resort, waterpark, and ski operations.
  • Coordinate special initiatives related to guest and employee safety as directed by the Senior Vice President of Risk Management.
  • Engage with existing third-party safety vendors and seek out new partnerships as needed.
  • Participate in training sessions as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Risk Management.
  • Demonstrate initiative in identifying, prioritizing, and executing all necessary elements for the team to achieve safety objectives.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Risk Management.
  • Knowledge of insurance practices.
  • Familiarity with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and the ability to interpret these standards.
  • OSHA 501 and 511 training certifications.
  • Understanding of local health district regulations.
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking abilities.
  • Capability to direct collaborative efforts among direct reports and other resources, including internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage change, resolve conflicts, and ensure teamwork, while upholding the highest ethical standards.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and professionally.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the capacity to address issues collaboratively and proactively identify potential challenges.
