Position Overview

Strategic Safety Solutions, a specialized consulting firm in environmental, health, and safety, is in search of a skilled Environmental Safety and Compliance Officer. This role entails providing comprehensive on-site oversight for various environmental and safety projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting a minimum of two safety inspections each day.
  • Delivering toolbox talks and safety orientations to personnel.
  • Verifying that equipment operators possess the necessary qualifications through training certifications and/or experience.
  • Ensuring adherence to site-specific Health and Safety Plans (HASP), as well as compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date inventory of hazardous materials.
  • Documenting safety deficiencies observed among workers or unsafe working conditions, and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Preparing detailed accident reports.
  • Performing analyses of safety trends.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in the construction industry, with at least 5 years dedicated to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) management.
  • Completion of the OSHA 30-Hour Construction Outreach Training within the last five years.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER training, along with an 8-hour annual refresher course.
  • Training in confined space entry, RCRA, and DOT hazardous waste regulations.
  • Experience in excavation and trenching safety protocols.
  • Lockout/tagout training.

Proficiency in data entry and report uploading is essential.

Previous experience with environmental safety projects is advantageous. Candidates must meet the specified qualifications and training to be considered for this position.
