The role of the Long-Term Substitute Teacher in Special Education involves engaging in practices that exhibit essential teaching skills, effective classroom management, and fostering positive relationships. The primary objective is to ensure equitable instructional opportunities for all students while cultivating a classroom atmosphere that promotes dynamic and comprehensive learning experiences. The teaching approach is rooted in the belief that education aims to facilitate personal development, nurture individual talents, and encourage the pursuit of knowledge and understanding.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the school principal, the long-term substitute teacher is expected to:
Address the instructional needs and interests of students through effective daily lesson planning. Establish a learning environment that is supportive and optimally utilizes classroom time. Employ a variety of teaching methodologies and instructional materials to deliver the approved curriculum. Utilize assessments effectively to foster intellectual, physical, social, and emotional growth among students. Exhibit fair, consistent, and supportive behavior towards students while encouraging self-discipline. Demonstrate strong communication skills and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community. Guide the educational process in alignment with school system goals and objectives, adhering to established policies and procedures.
