About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Puppy Counselor. As a key member of our Puppy Head Start Program, you will play a vital role in promoting early learning and development in puppies between 2-4 months old.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with our Puppy Head Start Program clients and their puppies, providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Assist with training puppies on basic skills, collaborating with our certified trainers to provide enrichment activities and desensitization.
  • Clean up after puppies in real-time, including dog urine and feces.
  • Set up and break down before and after school, including cleaning and disinfecting the office, preparing snacks, and doing laundry.
  • Prepare food, including light kitchen duties and cutting dog treats.
  • Assist trainers with various tasks assigned.
  • Contribute to social media by gathering content, including photos and videos.
  • Work with trainers to create daily and weekly puppy report cards and progress, documenting and communicating issues and training needs.
  • Support Puppy Socials, Class Orientations, Special Projects, and Marketing Events with some weekend hours when required.

Requirements:

  • Availability to work Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 3:30pm, with some weekend and evening hours when required.
  • Ability to stand for several hours per day, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, walk up and down stairs, and handle dogs of various sizes.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with barking, distractions, and general noise.
  • Detail-oriented and able to multitask, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, staff, and vendors in both written and spoken English.
  • Patience and empathy when working with puppies and guiding them to learn.
  • Ability to be flexible with added tasks as needed.
  • Class C California Driver's License for driving as needed.
  • Ability to respond to the office location.
  • Provide three references, with two being previous workplace supervisors.
