Key Responsibilities- Provide Culturally Sensitive Mental Health Services: Offer individual, group, and family treatment, therapeutic case management, crisis intervention, and consultation services to students and their families.
- Collaborate with School Teams: Work closely with school psychologists, behavior intervention specialists, special education case managers, school leaders, and general education teachers to conduct mental health assessments, provide direct mental health services, and support the implementation of strategies to help students succeed in their classrooms.
- Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Create treatment plans and goals to address educationally related mental health services for students, with a focus on fostering better mental health and positive learning environments.
- Monitor Student Progress: Use special education database systems to monitor student progress toward IEP goal attainment.
- Provide Crisis Intervention: Offer crisis intervention services for general education students and special education students as needed.
- Consult with Parents and Teachers: Provide consultation and coaching to parents, teachers, and other school staff regarding student programs and adaptations.
- Maintain Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with school leaders, teachers, and parents to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Adhere to Compliance Requirements: Ensure adherence to IDEA timelines and California Education Code compliance laws.
- Provide Professional Development: Offer training and coaching to school staff on best practices in trauma-informed education, social-emotional supports, crisis intervention, and community resources.
- Valid License or Registration: Possession of a valid license or associate level registration for a social worker, marriage family therapist, clinical counselor, psychologist, school counselor, or school psychologist, as defined by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or relevant state licensing board.
- PPS Credential: Highly preferred: PPS Credential in School Counseling.
- Experience: At least one year of experience (two years preferred) providing mental health services in school-based settings, with a focus on working with students with a range of disabilities.
