About the Indiana Department of Financial Institutions (DFI):

Role Overview:
This position involves examining the safety and soundness of Indiana's largest and most complex state-chartered banks and credit unions. Responsibilities include assessing financial performance, inherent risk levels, and risk management practices.

The portfolio consists of financial institutions with diverse product lines and business strategies, necessitating a more comprehensive regulatory oversight process due to their size.

Key Responsibilities:
As part of the role, you will:

  • Assist in examination processes and lead targeted examinations.
  • Monitor the financial institution portfolio regularly.
  • Act as the primary contact for at least one financial institution within the portfolio.
  • Collaborate with other examiners and federal regulators.

Some travel, including overnight stays, will be required, primarily within Indiana.

Compensation:
This role is classified as a Senior Examiner position, with a starting salary of $77,500 per year, subject to adjustment based on relevant experience and skills.

Daily Responsibilities:
The essential functions of this role include:

  • Conducting examinations on large and complex institutions.
  • Serving as an Examiner-In-Charge for safety and soundness examinations.
  • Submitting examination plans that reflect the institution's condition and risk profile.
  • Overseeing examination staff to ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Preparing accurate Reports of Examination.

Qualifications for Success:
To be considered for this position, candidates must:

  • Complete agency-specific training programs.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of computer applications related to examination activities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze and interpret data and records.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Exhibit the ability to travel as required.
