Operational Risk Analyst at Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis

Objective:

The Operational Risk Analyst position at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is essential for supporting the Operational Risk Management Team. This role is crucial in ensuring that the Bank's operational risk management framework effectively identifies, evaluates, measures, monitors, and communicates operational risks throughout the institution.

The Analyst will work closely with process owners across the Bank to understand business operations and the related risk and control landscape, focusing on identifying potential areas for process improvement. Furthermore, they will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and presenting findings to management and the Board of Directors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Operational Risk Manager in executing elements of the operational risk management framework.
  • Track and follow up on operational risk incidents reported by management to ensure suitable corrective measures are implemented, including conducting root cause analyses.
  • Examine operational risk incident data and trends to identify anomalies or emerging issues.
  • Provide monthly updates to key stakeholders regarding the status of operational risk incidents.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify risks through risk assessments and apply risk rating methodologies to evaluate risks.
  • Support the oversight of action plans stemming from management self-reported issues and risk assessments, conducting quality assurance reviews of supporting documentation for issue management closure or remediation plan completion.
  • Maintain the Bank's inventory of end-user computing tools, including performing regular testing, reviews, and updates.
  • Conduct quarterly operational risk estimate calculations, provide evidence to relevant departments, and assist in documentation maintenance and reporting.
  • Prepare various operational risk reports for the Bank's Risk Committee, the Board Risk Oversight Committee, and other stakeholders.
  • Regularly review the procedures of the Operational Risk Management Group to ensure they remain current and aligned with best practices.
  • Engage in additional risk management projects and tasks as assigned.
Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required; a master's degree is preferred, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in operational risk, compliance, or auditing within a financial services environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the capability to manage complex assignments.
  • Knowledge of various scripting languages, such as Python, is advantageous.
  • Exhibit a high level of initiative, strong analytical abilities, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the capacity to engage effectively with management.
  • Adaptability and flexibility in meeting deadlines and managing workload variations.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • No history of civil or criminal convictions that could pose a security risk to the Bank.
  • Willingness to work full-time.
  • Demonstrate and uphold the Bank's guiding principles.
