Position Overview:
This role is accountable for overseeing various operational activities, ensuring that daily shipping targets are met while adhering to customer contract standards. The position involves managing a diverse team of both exempt and non-exempt employees, which includes providing training, monitoring work quality, coaching on performance, and influencing pay decisions.

Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating the workforce by establishing work procedures, preparing schedules, and optimizing workflow through effective employee utilization.


Key Responsibilities:

Operational Duties:
Collaborate with the site manager to identify operational requirements and implement new strategies to meet or exceed these expectations, as well as those of our customers.

Emphasize LEAN methodologies, quality management practices, and cost control strategies to achieve corporate objectives, promote sustained business growth, and cultivate long-term customer relationships.

Delegate tasks and oversee the accuracy of work completion.
Evaluate current practices and drive enhancements.
Continuously manage performance; develop team members through training and coaching.
Ensure a safe working environment and promote a positive team atmosphere, addressing employee relations issues and applying corrective actions as necessary.
Accountable for the execution of daily distribution and light manufacturing tasks, addressing performance deficiencies with corrective action plans when necessary.
Supervise and nurture staff while adhering to organizational policies and legal requirements.
Responsible for surpassing customer metrics in terms of cost, quality, and responsiveness.
Lead start-up initiatives with cross-functional teams.
Engage daily with both internal and external customers.
Plan and organize personnel schedules to support all shifts and account for workload distribution.
Maintain comprehensive documentation of departmental processes.
Train team members to ensure a current understanding of processes, policies, and procedures.
Manage workforce scheduling in operations or plant settings to ensure optimal efficiency.

Determine necessary labor hours and the quantity of items to be received, stocked, picked, inventoried, cleaned, and/or shipped.

Ensure smooth operations while prioritizing worker safety.
Provide insights to directors, managers, peers, and subordinates regarding quality, safety, delivery, cost, and morale.
Work within strict budgetary constraints to establish production schedules.

Monitor activities to ensure daily quotas are met by keeping staff focused and informed of procedural updates.

In instances of production delays, assess the situation and devise strategies to realign with schedules.
Develop detailed product quality checklists and oversee inspections of items during construction. Each item undergoes scrutiny prior to packaging and shipping.

Conduct personal inspections to ensure compliance with orders and adherence to established processes.

Track metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to evaluate productivity and cost management.
Collaborate with management, peers, subordinates, and other internal departments to address issues and concerns.
Exemplify positive reinforcement and strive to elevate RK Logistics to a World Class organization.
Maintain strong relationships with customers by responding to their needs and requirements, serving as the company’s point of contact for customer visits.

Required Skills:
Experience with process improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Familiarity with RF scanners and standardized operational processes.
Knowledge of picking, receiving, and shipping procedures, with hands-on experience preferred.
Exceptional verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
A strong sense of urgency and commitment to success.
Integrity and the ability to interact effectively with others while following instructions.
Flexibility to adapt to sudden changes in operational goals.
Ability to read, write, and comprehend basic checklists, forms, or other documents.
Capacity to follow oral and written instructions.
Physical ability to stand, walk, handle objects, reach, climb ladders, kneel, and lift/move items up to 50lbs unassisted using safe lifting techniques.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: This position requires 5-10 years of managerial experience (Education may substitute for years of experience) overseeing logistics solutions across all aspects of warehousing and distribution.
A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration or industrial management/engineering.
Intermediate math and writing skills.
Advanced computer skills, particularly in MRP systems, are advantageous.
3-5 years of experience in logistics or a related field.
Familiarity with handheld RF equipment is a plus.

Forklift certification is a plus:
