Position Overview
The Staff Accountant specializing in Real Estate plays a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of leasing data. This position is responsible for the timely processing of payments to landlords and service providers, as well as assisting in the preparation of rent payment documentation. The role also involves auditing and reporting sales data to landlords while maintaining the accuracy of information in the company's real estate management system.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the completeness and precision of lease accounting software.
- Conduct audits of invoices to ensure compliance with lease agreements and proper billing practices.
- Address and resolve discrepancies in invoices through effective communication with landlords.
- Prepare payment runs as required.
- Reconcile accounts related to landlords.
- Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal company standards concerning leases.
- Manage lease-related balance sheet accounts, including the preparation of journal entries for lease accruals.
- Execute project accounting tasks, such as recording asset values and relevant project accruals.
- Uphold legal and ethical standards in all accounting practices.
- Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist with special projects, including financial analysis related to real estate.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and propose actionable solutions.
- Engage in additional reporting and projects as necessary.
- Three to five years of experience in accounts payable, accounting, auditing, or finance.
- Experience in real estate or retail is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Strong understanding of GAAP principles.
- Proven ability to deliver accurate work across multiple entities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Interest in career advancement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, SAP, and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Familiarity with ERP accounting systems and CoStar is preferred.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting is required.
