Purpose Statement
The role of the Senior Human Resources Specialist is to facilitate the provision of human resource services, ensuring the meticulous maintenance of all organizational human resource records and data. This position is integral in executing assigned projects and tasks while delivering accurate information to both applicants and employees.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Department Administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the recruitment process by reviewing applicant documentation and certified credentials to meet staffing needs while adhering to established protocols.
- Engage in communication with employees, departments, administrators, applicants, and the public to provide guidance on human resource procedures, resolve inquiries, and facilitate employee relations.
- Compile and analyze data from various sources to ensure compliance with financial, legal, and administrative standards.
- Maintain comprehensive human resource records, ensuring the accuracy of employee compensation and compliance with mandated requirements.
- Prepare various reports and documentation, including human resource actions for governance agendas and employee contracts.
- Process essential documents and materials related to employee transitions, volunteer coordination, and other personnel-related tasks.
- Respond to inquiries from diverse internal and external sources, providing necessary information and direction.
- Support personnel staff by offering backup assistance as required.
Additional Responsibilities
Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the effective functioning of the department. Supervise assigned personnel to maintain adequate staffing levels and enhance team productivity.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and adapting to evolving job conditions is essential. Key competencies include:
- Accurate record-keeping and project management.
- Proficient use of standard office equipment and relevant software applications.
- Strong customer service orientation and data classification skills.
Knowledge
Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to perform calculations, read manuals, and solve practical problems are required. Knowledge of office practices, personnel administration, and relevant regulations is essential.
Abilities
Ability to schedule activities, gather data, and work collaboratively with a diverse range of individuals. Strong problem-solving skills are necessary to identify issues and develop action plans.
Work Environment
This position involves a mix of sitting, walking, and standing, with physical demands including some lifting and fine finger dexterity. The work environment is generally clean and healthy.
Experience and Education
Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is preferred. A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Clearances
Criminal Background Clearance is mandatory.
