Position Title: Mechanical Engineering Technician

Overview: The Mechanical Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in supporting the development of mechanical engineering tasks within various projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team on designated construction initiatives.
  • Ensure the professional quality and technical precision of all designs, drawings, specifications, and services provided by contractors.
  • Act as a representative at construction sites, overseeing contractor quality control to guarantee high standards of workmanship.
  • Assist Construction Managers in the coordination and execution of projects.
  • Participate in all construction and quality control meetings.
  • Monitor safety compliance and report any violations immediately.
  • Communicate with the Government Construction Manager and other officials regarding any unresolved safety issues.
  • Document all accidents and incidents promptly.
  • Review and analyze construction plans and specifications.
  • Alert management of any potential disputes or necessary modifications to contracts.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks on construction contracts and coordinate solutions for technical challenges.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports during site visits.
  • Provide performance evaluations of contractors upon project completion.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in mechanical and plumbing schematic design and development.
  • Proven expertise in creating comprehensive Statements of Work, including associated drawings and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of construction contract requirements and the ability to recommend necessary changes.
  • Familiarity with both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods.
  • Competence in estimating design and construction efforts and assisting in negotiations with contractors.
  • Proficiency in reviewing contractor submissions and responding to requests for information.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and construction practices.
  • Ability to work independently and apply engineering principles effectively.
  • Proficient in AUTOCAD and capable of designing control systems.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards in mechanical and plumbing engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Physical Demands: The role requires regular sitting, walking, and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision for detailed work.

Work Environment: Primarily office-based with occasional exposure to construction sites and varying weather conditions.
