Position Overview:
Koniag Government Services is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in liaising with our esteemed government clients, ensuring that engineering standards are met and exceeded.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a consultant for establishing design standards and criteria for various construction initiatives.
- Provide expert mechanical engineering insights based on established requirements.
- Review mechanical system layouts for specialized environments, including data and communication rooms.
- Conduct and interpret cooling load calculations, ensuring optimal performance.
- Analyze ductwork layouts and understand various air handling systems, including Z-ducts and U-ducts.
- Evaluate different mechanical systems, assessing their advantages and disadvantages.
- Ensure compliance with local codes through thorough drawing reviews.
- Draft and review operational sequences for various HVAC systems.
- Assess 24/7 mechanical systems to ensure adherence to project requirements.
- Participate in the commissioning of mechanical systems upon project completion.
- Perform life-cycle analysis for various HVAC systems and collaborate with the team to develop cost estimates.
- Write detailed scopes of work for HVAC systems and review air and water balance reports (TAB).
- Execute construction administration tasks, including reviewing RFIs, field reports, and submittals.
- Engage in quality control and assurance throughout the construction phase.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing building electrical systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit is essential.
- Must possess a Top Secret security clearance.
Work Environment:
This position operates primarily in a professional office setting with a noise level that is mostly low to moderate. The role requires standard office equipment usage, including computers and telecommunication devices. The incumbent may need to stand, walk, sit, and handle various tools and controls, and may occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
