Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the professional quality and technical precision of all designs, drawings, specifications, and services provided by contractors.
  • Act as a representative at construction sites, overseeing contractor quality control to guarantee adherence to quality standards.
  • Assist Construction Managers in the coordination and execution of projects.
  • Participate actively in all construction and quality control meetings.
  • Monitor safety practices on-site and report any violations immediately.
  • Notify relevant authorities if hazardous conditions are not rectified promptly by contractors.
  • Document all accidents and incidents without delay.
  • Review and analyze construction plans and specifications thoroughly.
  • Communicate any potential issues that may lead to disputes or require modifications to contracts.
  • Conduct inspections and quality assurance checks on construction contracts and coordinate solutions for technical challenges.
  • Prepare daily inspection reports during site visits.
  • Provide feedback on contractor performance at project completion.
  • Deliver reports assessing contractor performance regarding schedule adherence, quality, and overall effectiveness.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 5 years of specialized experience in mechanical and plumbing schematic design and development.
  • Proven expertise in creating comprehensive Statements of Work, including drawings and specifications for both new and renovation projects.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician.
  • Ability to pass a background check and obtain necessary security clearance prior to employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth understanding of construction contract requirements and the ability to recommend necessary changes.
  • Familiarity with Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build project delivery methods.
  • Competence in estimating design and construction efforts and assisting in negotiations with contractors.
  • Proficiency in reviewing contractor submissions and responding to requests for information.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical systems and substantial experience in this field.
  • Capability to work independently while interpreting and adapting knowledge as needed.
  • Solid understanding of the scientific principles underlying mechanical engineering.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with various mechanical systems, including boilers, chillers, and utility systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction practices and management techniques.
  • Ability to review complex technical specifications and engineering designs.
  • Familiarity with quality control inspection tools and methodologies.
  • Knowledge of construction technology principles and industry practices.
  • Proficient in AUTOCAD and capable of designing control systems.
  • Experience with construction site visits and the ability to generate field progress reports.
  • Strong communication skills for effective oral and written presentations.

Physical Demands: The role requires regular sitting, walking, and the use of hands for various tasks. Occasionally, the employee may need to lift up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment: The position is primarily office-based but may involve exposure to various environmental conditions during site visits.
