Job Title: Virtualization Systems Engineer
Job Type: Long-Term Contract
Location: Onsite
Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience
Security Clearance: Active TS required
Key Responsibilities:
The Senior System Administrator - Virtualization will:
- Conduct thorough site assessments to gather essential information for comprehensive planning of products and services, as well as the installation of necessary equipment to support mission operations.
- Lead and execute regular and specialized system testing programs on virtualization technologies.
- Prepare and deliver detailed reports and presentations containing actionable insights relevant to site operations.
- Facilitate integrated equipment system tests and provide on-the-job training to government and junior personnel as needed.
- Collaborate with fellow field engineers to enhance customer support.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned within the project scope.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an Active TS Security clearance and be prepared to undergo a Counter Intelligence Polygraph following onboarding. Applications without this clearance will not be considered.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent qualifications.
Expertise Level: This is a senior-level role requiring at least ten (10) years of experience in designing, managing, and supporting diverse computer networks in both production and development settings.
Essential Skills: The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in:
- Installation, configuration, and validation of network components, including:
- Citrix technologies (XenServer, XenApp, NetScaler)
- Windows Server (2019/2022)
- Microsoft Failover Clustering and Hyper-V Manager
- Microsoft System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM)
- Virtualization subsystems and container systems
- Infrastructure as Code methodologies
- Administration of various virtualization environments (Windows, Citrix, Linux)
- Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and author scripts, primarily in PowerShell, to automate system management tasks
- Evaluate and optimize existing systems in light of emerging technologies
- Document and deploy modernization technologies in production environments
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with PowerShell and Splunk dashboard management
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms
- Background in digital forensics technology for law enforcement or intelligence communities
- Agile team experience and willingness to implement Lean principles and DevSecOps practices
- Participation in strategy sessions for project documentation and requirements gathering
