Role Summary

We are currently seeking a qualified Communication Specialist to deliver essential speech and language services to children facing challenges in educational settings. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing both integrated and separate therapy sessions tailored to each child's unique needs as outlined in their individualized education plan (IEP). The Communication Specialist will also be tasked with assessing student progress and collaborating with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver and document speech and language therapy services using digital platforms.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans for students.
  • Engage in IEP meetings, including annual reviews and eligibility assessments.
  • Prepare quarterly progress reports for students receiving therapy services.
  • Conduct assessments and collaborate with colleagues to evaluate student needs.
  • Observe and document student performance, advocating for those who may require additional support.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings to enhance collaborative efforts.
  • Build strong relationships with school staff, families, and community partners to support children's needs.
  • Provide guidance to educators on effective communication strategies.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities for staff regarding speech and language support.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in electronic health records and school systems.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences from an accredited institution. A minimum of one year of relevant experience working with children is preferred.

Licenses and Certifications
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association or eligibility for certification.
  • State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology or eligibility for certification.
  • Certification in crisis management and CPR/First Aid is preferred.
Physical Requirements

The role requires the ability to perform various physical tasks, including standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
