Why Choose Great Gray?

At Great Gray Trust Company, we are committed to redefining the standards in the retirement services sector. Our mission is to provide innovative retirement solutions that merge our essential fiduciary services with comprehensive investment alternatives, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional client support. We prioritize clarity in decision-making, seamless transitions, and an enhanced client experience. Company Profile

Great Gray Trust Company stands as the premier independent provider of trustee and administrative services for Collective Investment Trusts ("CITs"), managing over $175 billion in CIT assets across a diverse array of funds. We collaborate with 75 subadvisors, including renowned firms such as Alliance Bernstein, American Funds, BlackRock, Franklin Templeton, MetLife, Neuberger Berman, PGIM, PIMCO, and Raymond James.

CITs are not merely investment vehicles; they embody a progressive approach to retirement planning. These tax-exempt, pooled investment vehicles cater to employer-sponsored retirement plans, such as 401(k)s. While comparable to mutual funds, CITs are specifically designed for the institutional retirement market, offering unique advantages like efficient administration and cost-effectiveness. With a legacy spanning over 90 years, CITs have gained popularity in recent years, driven by innovation, with Great Gray leading the charge.

Great Gray has consistently achieved above-market growth and is dedicated to the ongoing enhancement of its core CIT business, alongside complementary administrative services and technological solutions tailored for the retirement sector.

Investor Insights

Madison Dearborn Partners ("MDP"), a prominent private equity investment firm based in Chicago, acquired Great Gray from Wilmington Trust. Since its inception in 1992, MDP has raised over $28 billion in aggregate capital and completed more than 150 platform investments across five key industry sectors, including basic industries, business and government software and services, financial and transaction services, healthcare, and telecom, media, and technology services.
