Director, Committee on Animal Care

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to serve as the Director of the Committee on Animal Care (CAC) Office at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of MIT's Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) office.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct protocol reviews and perform site visits to vivaria and laboratories, often under tight deadlines.
- Represent the chair during both announced and unannounced site visits from external oversight agencies.
- Perform a variety of other duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. or similar doctorate in a relevant discipline and experience in animal research.
- Familiarity with regulations and guidelines that govern animal research.
- Management and/or leadership experience.
- Excellent customer service and written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to demonstrate diplomacy during difficult conversations.
- Discretion and good judgment with confidential information.
- Training and certification in IACUC administration (CPIA) or willingness to seek such training and certification within one year.
