We are seeking a highly skilled Research Vivarium Husbandry Animal Care Technician 2 to join our Insourcing Solutions Department in Cambridge, MA.
About the RoleIn this critical position, you will be responsible for observing, monitoring, and documenting the health and physical environment within the animal facility. You will perform animal care and husbandry duties, including reviewing and complying with all SOPs and quality assurance standards pertaining to laboratory animals for research.
You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing/isolator or support areas as required by Institute and facility. Additionally, you will perform health observations and animal husbandry duties to maintain the quality of health of research animals.
As a Research Vivarium Husbandry Animal Care Technician 2, you will assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species as assigned by the on-site supervisor or facility veterinarian. You will also perform humane euthanasia and receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals; ensure and provide for sentinel animals in each rodent housing area.
RequirementsCandidate will possess: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, Biology or Biological Science preferred. A Minimum of two years directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility. AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level (ALAT) within 18 months of hire. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
