As a vital member of our team, you will oversee the well-being of laboratory animals (specifically rodents) across our vivarium facilities. The ethical treatment of these research animals is essential to Biogen's commitment to advancing groundbreaking research for our patients. Your responsibilities will include meticulous monitoring and documentation to ensure compliance with established standards. Our collaborative team comprises training and technical personnel, offering opportunities for professional growth and skill enhancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily health assessments, document findings, and communicate any concerns to the veterinary staff and research teams, while providing basic clinical support as needed.
- Perform husbandry tasks for rodent populations, ensuring optimal living conditions.
- Receive and properly house incoming animals.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all vivarium areas, submitting maintenance requests when required.
- Execute general cleaning duties while adhering to all safety protocols.
- Assist the team with additional responsibilities as necessary.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate possesses a strong passion for animal care and welfare, with exceptional attention to detail and effective communication abilities. We seek individuals who are dedicated to their work and eager to learn and develop professionally.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of one year of relevant work experience.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; capable of following both written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Capability to regularly lift, push, or pull weights up to 50 pounds.
- ALAT certification is required within one year of employment.
Work Schedule
This position entails a regular work schedule of 40 hours per week, including rotating holidays and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in post-surgical monitoring.
- Familiarity with basic rodent dosing techniques.
