Animal Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Vivarium Husbandry Animal Care Technician to join our team at Charles River Laboratories. In this role, you will be responsible for observing, monitoring, and documenting the health and physical environment within our animal facility. Your primary duties will include performing animal care and husbandry, reviewing and complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality assurance standards, and maintaining accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing.
Key Responsibilities:- Observe and monitor the health and physical environment within the animal facility
- Perform animal care and husbandry duties, including health observations and animal handling
- Review and comply with SOPs and quality assurance standards
- Maintain accurate records of animal breeding, health, and housing
- Assist with restraint, handling, and manipulation of various animal species
- Perform humane euthanasia
- Receive, inspect, and put away incoming animals
- Operate equipment and use supplies according to safety guidelines
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science, Biology, or Biological Science preferred
- A minimum of two years directly related laboratory animal experience in a laboratory animal facility
- AALAS certification at the Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician level (ALAT) within 18 months of hire
- A competitive hourly rate of $27.00 per hour
