Patient Registration Financial Coordinator

The Patient Registration Financial Coordinator serves as the initial contact for patient registration within the Emergency Department. This role involves interaction with patients, healthcare team members, visitors, law enforcement, paramedics, and insurance representatives to ensure the precise and prompt registration of individuals entering the Emergency Department (ED). The coordinator is adept at managing a significant volume of unpredictable and complex patient situations through effective problem-solving, conflict resolution, and respectful communication.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct interviews with patients during ED triage or at the bedside upon admission to gather essential information for accurate registration.
- Provide education to patients regarding their payment options, utilizing guidelines and application processes for programs such as Minnesota Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, and MNsure.
- Evening shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., including every other weekend.
- Minimum of one year of experience in customer service.
- Familiarity with computer systems and software applications.
- Post-secondary education or certification.
- Experience in healthcare customer service.
- Knowledge of healthcare registration processes, including insurance, revenue cycle management, or electronic medical records (e.g., Epic).
This position is classified as 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) for evening shifts. The salary range for this role is $21.74 to $32.62 per hour, depending on experience and internal equity, with additional compensation for shift differentials. This role is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and does not qualify for benefits, which commence on the first day of employment. Benefits include medical and dental insurance, a 401k plan with matching contributions, disability insurance, fertility benefits, tuition reimbursement, and educational support for continuing education. The organization also provides an onsite fitness center and clinic for employee convenience, as well as a Center for Employee Resilience that offers support and evidence-based practices to enhance well-being and resilience.
