At Volta, we are dedicated to enhancing the transition to electric vehicles. Our innovative charging stations not only serve drivers but also provide valuable advertising opportunities for brands and locations. Strategically positioned in high-traffic areas, Volta's charging stations are among the most utilized in the nation.

The Role at Volta Charging

We are in search of a seasoned program manager with a proven track record in overseeing and implementing web services and APIs at scale. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and executing essential web services and projects within our station and cloud division. A background in backend, cloud, or API platform software engineering is preferred, equipping you with the insights needed to navigate the complexities and best practices associated with these critical services.

Your leadership will extend across various programs that are vital to the seamless operation of our network of stations. You will play a key role in refining our deployment and integration methodologies.

In Your Initial Days, You Will

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of our Mobile, Payments, and Cloud software architecture and how these elements interact across our diverse offerings.
  • Familiarize yourself with ongoing projects within the Volta Driver Experience and payments sector, assessing their progress, challenges, and the team dynamics.
  • Conduct a thorough risk evaluation to identify potential threats to your programs and proactively mitigate them.
  • Organize and outline a mobile and/or payment initiative, establishing clear milestones and deliverables for the team to align with.
  • Enhance process efficiencies, maintain documentation in Confluence, and confidently communicate project statuses.

After a Year, You Will Have Achieved

  • Successfully launched mobile and payment features into production, collaborating with the relevant feature teams.
  • Built strong relationships across the engineering teams to drive results.
  • Provided transparency, accountability, and clarity in the programs/projects under your purview.
  • Identified significant risks and effectively prevented them from escalating into major issues.

Your Qualifications for Volta Charging

  • Proven experience in managing and deploying SaaS and/or Mobile products at scale.
  • Experience in overseeing software programs utilizing docker containers, Node JS, typescript, websocket APIs, SOAP, or REST APIs.
  • Proficient in managing software programs with Jira & Confluence, and comfortable with various program management tools.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a technical project/program manager focused on delivering and deploying APIs.
  • At least 4 years of experience in a mobile, cloud, or API platform software engineering role or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with electric vehicles and electric vehicle supply equipment is a significant advantage.
