Role Overview

The Regional Underwriting Specialist will be responsible for marketing and underwriting acceptable business in alignment with established underwriting guidelines. This role requires demonstrating leadership within the department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Independently assess, monitor, and price new and renewal business in accordance with Company guidelines as per the Underwriter's authority level outlined in the individual "Authority Letter".
  • Promote our products and services, and travel with assigned agents as necessary.
  • Engage with agents regarding rating, underwriting, and policy issuance matters.
  • Support the training of team members and other departmental staff.
  • Assist in the execution or coordination of special projects and timelines, including revised forms, new coverages/classes, research, and updates to the Underwriting Guide.
  • Help plan, coordinate, and implement in-house educational training or other corporate functions.
  • Represent the company professionally at industry events, conventions, and corporate gatherings.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in Commercial Insurance, Agency, or Brokerage.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and sustain strong professional relationships.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. Casualty lines of business, including product features, forms, regulatory environments, and associated risks, particularly in the Surplus lines or Excess Casualty sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in sales, marketing, and relationship development, ideally within the Wholesale marketplace.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, rapidly evolving environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with diverse colleagues to deliver solutions promptly.
  • Willingness to be adaptable, learn on the job, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Comfortable with analytical tools and technology.
