Position Overview: This role involves underwriting new Excess Casualty business and renewals in accordance with established authority levels and guidelines. Our team collaborates to cater to specialty markets, ensuring the success of our clients through tailored coverage options offered via our subsidiaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and price policies to ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and authority levels for both primary and excess coverage.
  • Employ underwriting tools to ascertain accurate classifications, rates, and premium assessments.
  • Engage with wholesale brokers through various communication channels to gather risk-specific information, negotiate terms, and clarify company policies.
  • Manage an assigned underwriting territory, including agent oversight and potential travel to agent locations.
  • Authorize and oversee endorsements as necessary.
  • Address premium audit disputes within the designated territory.
  • Review relevant state regulations regarding cancellation and non-renewal to ensure compliant business transactions.
  • Analyze and interpret data from diverse reports.
  • Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • A bachelor’s degree or two to five years of relevant insurance experience, or a combination of education and experience.
  • One to three years of underwriting experience with authority, ideally in excess and surplus lines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Prior educational background in insurance, such as IIA and CPCU, is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Exceptional analytical capabilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
