Role Summary

The primary responsibility of the COMSEC Security Operations Manager is to engage with Special Access Programs (SAPs) in support of Department of Defense (DoD) initiatives, collaborating with various agencies including HQ Air Force and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD). This role entails providing comprehensive support for Collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) operations. A thorough understanding of COMSEC protocols and procedures, including the management, operation, and disposal of COMSEC equipment, is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough inventories and inspections of secure equipment, such as secure telephones and encryption devices, alongside other COMSEC-related oversight functions.
  • Oversee the installation of secure telephone equipment (STE) and coordinate the delivery of encryption devices and keying materials to designated IT specialists managing classified networks.
  • Administer a comprehensive Top Secret inventory and document control program to ensure accurate tracking of COMSEC equipment and materials.
  • Perform inventories in accordance with agency policies and report any discrepancies to the appropriate government representatives.
  • Facilitate the secure transport of classified information and maintain accurate records for classified materials.
  • Promote adherence to Air Force COMSEC standards among team members through effective security education and training on operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with Automated Information Systems Security requirements related to COMSEC responsibilities.
  • Verify that proper physical security accreditation is obtained from designated Program Security Officers for supported facilities.
  • Provide training to personnel on COMSEC procedures and the operation of related equipment.
  • Offer leadership, mentorship, and quality assurance to team members.

Qualifications:
  • 5 - 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
  • Current Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.
  • Eligibility for access to Special Access Program Information.
  • Willingness to undergo a Counterintelligence polygraph examination.

Additional Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of COMSEC accountability and the procedures for issuing and receiving COMSEC equipment and materials, including inventory management and mailing.
  • Ability to perform moderate lifting (approximately 25 - 40 pounds).
