The Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) is a well-established, multi-service nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of Bronx residents. Our mission is to provide essential resources that support education and well-being, fostering a vibrant community for all. KHCC serves a diverse population, including families with special needs, low-income households, recent immigrants, and at-risk youth.
The Tween Program Supervisor plays a vital role in ensuring the effective delivery of quality programming for middle school students. This position is integral to the SONYC initiative, which is specifically designed to cater to the needs of youth during after-school hours, offering a comprehensive schedule that extends beyond traditional programming.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate all facets of the Tween program, including participant recruitment, registration processes, curriculum design, parental involvement, administrative oversight, and daily activity supervision.
- Support the Teen Program Director and Operations team with routine administrative tasks and compliance with contractual obligations.
- Foster and maintain collaborative partnerships with local schools and community organizations that regularly refer youth to our services.
- Organize transportation for participants from local schools, utilizing both walking and driving methods as necessary.
- Engage with youth to build positive relationships while implementing effective behavior management strategies during program activities.
- Oversee the work of group assistants and volunteers/interns involved in the program.
- Create and execute weekly lesson plans for specialized activities, such as culinary arts, creative writing, and photography.
- Ensure supervision of various activity areas, including recreational spaces, check-in/snack areas, and dining services.
- Collaborate with the broader Teen Center team to facilitate youth-centered trips and events.
- Assist the middle school group during the Summer Day Camp program.
- Participate in weekly staff meetings, orientations, and scheduled training sessions.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Physical Requirements:
- While fulfilling the responsibilities of this role, the employee will frequently be required to stand, walk, sit, and engage in various physical activities. Occasionally, quick movements may be necessary. The employee must be capable of lifting and/or moving items weighing up to 50 pounds and should possess specific vision abilities, including close and distance vision.
