Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is dedicated to maintaining a secure technological landscape that empowers state agencies to fulfill their missions effectively. The Commonwealth Security & Risk Management (CSRM) Directorate plays a pivotal role in overseeing this environment, providing essential support to various agencies across the state.

CSRM is currently in search of a Junior IT Security Auditor to assist in performing risk-based IT Security Audits for agencies opting to utilize VITA's Centralized IT Security Audit Service. This role presents a remarkable opportunity to gain insights into, contribute to, and safeguard numerous operations within the Commonwealth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough IT Security Audits in alignment with established standards.
  • Collaborate with state agencies to identify and mitigate security risks.
  • Analyze audit evidence and formulate appropriate conclusions.
  • Communicate findings effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Uphold the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should possess a combination of education and experience equivalent to a degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.

Familiarity with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (Yellow Book) and/or the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Red Book) is preferred.

Strong analytical abilities are essential, along with excellent written and oral communication skills.

Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and a results-driven work ethic are highly valued.

Additional Considerations

Prior experience as an Auditor, particularly in IT auditing, is advantageous.

Relevant information technology experience or education is beneficial.

Knowledge of NIST or COV Security Standard SEC530 is a plus.
