Job Responsibilities

Sacred Heart University is pleased to present an opportunity for a Compliance Auditor within our Assurance and Compliance Office.

This role is integral to our mission and involves a variety of essential functions, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting Internal Audits
  • Engaging in Special Projects
  • Investigating reports from the Fraud, Waste, and Abuse Hotline
  • Performing Internal Investigations
  • Evaluating Indirect Cost Rates in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations
  • Analyzing Pre-Award submissions from Architectural and Engineering Firms
  • Reviewing Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports
  • Assessing CPA Indirect Cost Rate Audit Workpapers

Specific duties will encompass:

  • Participating in the planning and execution of audits, including the creation of detailed audit programs that outline necessary procedures for gathering relevant evidence.
  • Executing audit procedures as per the established audit program, ensuring findings are substantiated by adequate evidence.
  • Contributing to the development of audit reports that clearly communicate findings and recommendations for enhancing internal controls.
  • Monitoring and reporting on corrective action plans post-audit.
  • Managing multiple assignments to ensure timely completion within budgeted hours.
  • Traveling as required for in-state assignments, including occasional overnight trips.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of safety protocols when visiting operational sites.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations to various audit types.
  • Proficiency in analyzing financial data to propose effective solutions.
  • Strong listening skills to guide inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Skill in creating clear and logical audit documentation.
  • Proficient in using computers and web-based applications.
Additional Considerations
  • Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Auditing Standards (GAAS).
  • Relevant education or experience in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Professional certifications such as CPA are advantageous.
  • Experience with auditing software and data analytics is preferred.
