Position Overview

The Director of Medical Staff Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily functions and management of the Medical Staff Office (MSO). This role involves providing leadership and accountability for both the medical-administrative and medical-legal aspects of the MSO. The director acts as a crucial link between various hospital departments, medical staff members, and hospital administration, addressing issues related to Medical Staff Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Assistant Administrator, Chief of the Medical Staff, and other medical staff leaders to effectively plan, organize, and uphold the responsibilities of the MSO.
  2. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards set by the Joint Commission, CMS, and other governing bodies.
  3. Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and accountability to enhance knowledge and skills.

Essential Qualifications:

Experience:

A minimum of five years in Medical Staff Services is required, along with five years of management experience.

Certifications:

Preferred certifications include Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).

Education:

A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, while a Master's degree is preferred.

Required Skills:

  1. Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  2. In-depth knowledge of medical staff services and credentialing processes.
  3. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and credentialing database management.
  4. Familiarity with Joint Commission Medical Staff standards and CMS regulations.
  5. Exceptional planning and organizational skills to effectively coordinate medical staff activities.
  6. Comprehensive understanding of medico-legal issues and relevant regulatory standards.
  7. Demonstrated interpersonal and management skills.
  8. Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities.
  9. Ability to exercise independent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  10. Proficient in conflict resolution and daily problem-solving techniques.
