Healthcare Coordinator

Job Summary:
The University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a skilled Healthcare Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our nursing staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide general clerical and receptionist duties, including medical record maintenance, order processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit.
- Assist visitors, nursing staff, and members of the healthcare team with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to hospital standards and regulations.
- Perform nursing assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Nursing Management Associate.
Requirements:
- Ability to use multi-line telephone systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic computer knowledge and medical terminology skills.
- Organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
- Ability to interact and communicate with people in stressful situations in a courteous manner.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, patient medical records, and clinical documents.
- Proficiency in hospital computer systems, including ADT order entry, requisitions, and lab inquiries.
- Clerical, word processing, and office skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital setting.
- Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting.
- Nursing Assistant certification highly preferred.
- Current CPR training program.
Education and Training:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of an approved educational program for Nursing Assistants.
- Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.
