Job Summary:

The University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a skilled Healthcare Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide general clerical and receptionist duties, including medical record maintenance, order processing, and materials management functions on the nursing unit.
  • Assist visitors, nursing staff, and members of the healthcare team with a high level of professionalism and courtesy.
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to hospital standards and regulations.
  • Perform nursing assistant duties under the direction of the Registered Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, or Nursing Management Associate.

Requirements:

  • Ability to use multi-line telephone systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer knowledge and medical terminology skills.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Ability to interact and communicate with people in stressful situations in a courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient medical records, and clinical documents.
  • Proficiency in hospital computer systems, including ADT order entry, requisitions, and lab inquiries.
  • Clerical, word processing, and office skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nursing Assistant experience in a hospital setting.
  • Health Unit Coordinator experience in a hospital setting.
  • Nursing Assistant certification highly preferred.
  • Current CPR training program.

Education and Training:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an approved educational program for Nursing Assistants.
  • Completion of the UMC HUC training program within 6 months of being in the position.
