Position Overview
The Director of Medical Staff Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily functions and management of the Medical Staff Office (MSO). This role entails ensuring compliance with medical-administrative and legal standards while fostering effective communication between medical staff, hospital departments, and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership and strategic direction for the Medical Staff Office.
- Act as a key liaison among medical staff, hospital departments, and administration to address various issues related to Medical Staff Services.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Administrator and Chief of the Medical Staff to ensure the MSO meets organizational objectives and adheres to regulatory standards.
- Commit to ongoing professional development to enhance knowledge and skills in medical staff services.
Qualifications:
Experience:
A minimum of five years in Medical Staff Services is required, along with five years of management experience.
Certifications:
Preferred certifications include Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM).
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master's degree preferred.
Essential Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of medical staff services and credentialing protocols.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and credentialing database management.
- Familiarity with Joint Commission and CMS standards and regulations.
- Exceptional planning and organizational skills for effective coordination of medical staff activities.
- Comprehensive understanding of medico-legal issues and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and management skills.
- High level of independent judgment and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective conflict resolution and decision-making skills.
