Position Overview

Environmental Quality Management, Inc. (EQM) is a comprehensive environmental consulting and engineering firm specializing in remediation and construction management. With a strong presence across the United States, EQM has built a reputation for excellence since its inception in 1990, employing over 230 skilled professionals.

The primary role of the Response Manager is to oversee hazardous waste site projects, acting as a Project Manager (PM) to support various cleanup and remediation contracts. This position may also encompass responsibilities as a Waste Transportation & Disposal Coordinator or Regulatory Specialist, depending on qualifications. The role primarily involves work in multiple EPA Regions, ensuring compliance and effective project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage site personnel, subcontractors, and specialized teams.
  • Oversee daily operations, including the preparation of work orders.
  • Monitor project progress, schedules, and budgets against planned objectives.
  • Review daily cost tracking reports and discuss findings with clients.
  • Conduct daily meetings with clients to assess progress and resource needs.
  • Facilitate daily safety meetings and enforce site safety protocols.
  • Prepare essential documentation such as Work Plans, Safety Plans, and monthly progress reports.
  • Ensure adherence to all relevant regulations and permit requirements.
  • Support waste transportation and disposal activities, including characterization and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain comprehensive onsite project records.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or scientific discipline.
  • Certification as a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is preferred.
  • 6 to 8 years of direct experience in hazardous substance response operations.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a project management capacity.
  • Strong understanding of environmental regulations, including DOT and OSHA.
  • Preferred training includes HAZWOPER, ICS, and DOT/Hazardous Waste.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 65% of the time.
